Close wage gap; end gender division of labor

Stop the attack on women's reproductive rights and defend Roe v. Wade. Women must have the fundamental right to choose & control their own bodies. Women still earn 22 percent less than men, and the gap is even more severe for Black and Latina women. Close the wage gap and end the gender division of labor.

Restrict employers' asking about criminal records

We call for the immediate amnesty for all non-violent offenders currently incarcerated. We call for disallowing employers from inquiring about an applicant's past criminal record not directly related to the occupational task to be performed, including eliminating the check off box for felons.

Oppose global capitalism with militant united labor action

The Socialist Party stands for the right of all workers to organize, for worker control of industry, for the social ownership of the means of production and distribution, and for international solidarity among working people based on common opposition to global capitalism and imperialism.

Guaranteed incomes and grants for artists and performers

The Socialist Party believes that art is an integral part of daily life, and should not be treated as a commodity produced by the activity of an elite group. All members of society should have ample opportunities for participation in art and cultural activities.

Set maximum wage at 10 times the minimum wage

Unemployment compensation at 100% of previous income

We call for an increased and expanded welfare assistance program and unemployment compensation at 100% of a worker's previous income or the minimum wage for the full period of unemployment or re-training.

30-hour work week with 6-weeks annual paid vacation

We call for a 30-hour work week, six weeks annual paid vacation, right of all workers to form a union and the right of public sector workers to strike. We also call for the repeal of all "right-to-work" laws, the same provision of employee benefits for part-time worker as for full-time workers and creation of a fund to pay full wages for education and retraining if a worker losses his/her job.

Militant labor action for social ownership of production

We support militant labor action, boycotts, sympathy strikes, sit-down and general strikes and the expropriation of the workplace. We ultimately support the right of all workers to organize for worker control of industry and social ownership of the means of production and distribution.

Set minimum wage of $15 per hour and index upward

We call for worker and community ownership and control of corporations within a decentralized and democratically determined economic plan. Until we reach our goal, we call for a minimum wage of $15 per hour, indexed to the cost of living, a full employment policy with a guaranteed annual income and withdrawal from all free trade agreements.

Raise minimum wage to $15 an hour

Instead of using our tax dollars to fuel the destructive Pentagon budget of more than a half a trillion dollars per year, the La Riva/Puryear presidential campaign calls for redirecting that money to create millions of union jobs for unemployed and underemployed working-class people. We also demand that the minimum wage be raised to $15 dollars an hour now.

A job should be a constitutional right

The La Riva/Puryear campaign believes that everyone is entitled to a job. A job should be a constitutional right. Youth training and hiring programs, along with apprenticeship programs and job placement for adults of all ages can fill the employment for the projects above and more.

Raise minimum wage & establish maximum wage

I suggest a maximum wage in which the lowest wage paid in any industry would be not less than 1/4 the highest wage paid to any CEO in that industry. There is a gross injustice when corporate leaders pull down wages in the millions of dollars while working American families often must work two jobs to keep food on the table. It is urgent that the benefits of working Americans not be cut. They have declined sharply. We demand that the benefits of American workers be defended.
